NEW YORK, NY – Sageview Executive Search, a Division of Sageview Consulting, has successfully completed the search for the Vice President of Mandel Center for Leadership Excellence (MCLE), which provides resources and expertise to develop and retain the highest quality professional and volunteer leadership for the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA). Shari Cohen began her tenure in early April.

Shari is well prepared for her upcoming role as VP, having devoted her career to helping leaders and organizations maximize their potential. Most recently, Shari was a partner at Next Step Partners, a leadership consulting firm, where she coached senior leaders, helped teams improve their operations and partnered with clients to be strategic about developing their leaders and overall culture.

Shari’s focus has been in the non-profit world, with clients such as Natural Resources Defense Council, the Brookings Institute, Doctors without Borders, the Hewlett Foundation, and many more. She also serves on the design team for an Aspen Institute innovation lab used by Fortune 500 companies.  Before her work as a consultant, Shari held leadership positions in two mission-driven organizations, including CLAL—National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership and as the director of the Jewish Public Forum.

Shari has a PhD from the University of California at Berkeley and a BA from Cornell University.  She is an author of a book about the memory of the Holocaust in post-communist societies, published by Duke University Press, and was a professor of international relations at Wellesley College.  Shari has lived and worked in Russia, Slovakia, Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic.
